If you trust the info you get here, and you're really lucky, the Columbian border police will just turn you away and not let you in.
Or maybe they'll charge you with being a spy, and throw you into a Columbian jail for a few months. Columbia is not the most democratic country at the moment. Remember the bit about how they produce most of the world's cocaine? Or how the narcotic syndicates control large chunks of the country? Do you know which parts they control, and which are safe for foreigners?
Maybe it's time to find a source of information that you can trust implicitly. Who would that be? Someone with an opinion, and access to a computer? Or maybe the US State Department, as well as the Peruvian and Columbian consulates?
Unless you've got the time to spend in a South American jail, do some research, and spend a few bucks on a phone call to get an answer you can trust. |

American citizens do not need a visa to enter Colombia if going as a tourist and staying for less than 60 days. However, there are additional requirements if you are a dual national.
You do not need a visa for Peru if staying for less than 90 days.
All of this information is posted on the US State Department website. You can read the requirements here:

Yes, I would say you are going to need to get a visa in the U.S. also. If anything, it is better to be safe than sorry. |
