Roatan is a great destination, specially if you are a diver or at least like to go snorkeling, the reef I believe is one of the the "top ten" of the Caribbean. There are also nice sandy beaches and beautiful small resort (you could even swim with Dolphins at Anthony's Key Resort). There's also the neighbor island of Utila (smaller that Roatan and more of a "backpacker's" feeling) but definitely worth a visit, I've been to both and I had a great time, good luck!

It's one of the most beautiful islands of the caribbean. And one of the very few places where you can swim with the peaceful whale shark.

I never went there before.

Beautiful but poor. It is a very beautiful island with a low crime rate compared to other carribean islands. There are however alot of poor people and there is a bit of beggings going on but the locals are friendly and not nearly aggressive as other places I have been to. The beaches are beautiful and the resorts are very nice. It is a safe island to take off and explore on your own.

I never been there, but I have friends that say, it is a nice place.
I found this link.

I think that you can get a lot of information on those links.

Taking into consideration that this question was probably meant to be funny, I'm going to answer it as though it were posed by a serious and questing mind. Roatan is a word that was found on a tree in a colony, I believe it was Roanoke, when a party from a resupply ship entered the new settlement and found no one there. The only possible clue that could have indicated where everyone disappeared to was this single word carved into a tree.
