Been there 7 times! I love that country, been in Santiago but also the south which is simply beautiful. The chilean patagonia is breathless and the glacier region is the most beautiful thing I've seen. Santiago is ok, food is not so ok, no wonder the best and most popular restaurants in the city are peruvian!! Nevertheless, beautiful country with lots of different scenary.

I love Chile is the best country in southamerica, they have the most beautiful places!!

Bee
Born there. Don't live there any more. But get back as often as I can. It is beautiful. Extremes of nature. Highlands of northern Chile are magnificent and ethereal.....altitudes of up to 15,000 ft. in the Altiplano. Northern Atacama Desert the driest in the world. Visit San Pedro de Atacama, a quaint oasis (good for tourists) near the border with Argentina. South is green, with powerful scenery.....lakes, fjords, mountains, glaciers.
More and more people are speaking English...but it is not universal outside the larger cities.

Marinho
Certainly a wonderfull country with great out-door scenery. You can go from an extreme desert (Atacama desert) to eternal glaciers in a matter of just hours. Best country for seafood variety, and perhaps one of the world's best wineries are settled there. A safe place to travel, where many people speak english and are service-driven as well.
