I'm not sure from your question exactly what type of info you are looking for but I can tell you that about one-third of Chile's population lives in Santiago, and 90 percent live within 320 kilometers (199 miles).

It's also very smoggy, especially in the winter.

They recently changed their public transportation system, now called Transantiago, and it is a disaster. Where before you could take one bus to most destinations, you now have to take two and sometimes three.

The Santa Lucia Hill in the city center is an important historic landmark. It was here, at the foot of this hill formerly known as the "Huelen", that the Spanish Conquistador Pedro de Valdivia founded the city of Santiago on February 12th, 1541.

There are lots of interesting landmarks to visit like La Moneda (the government headquarters), the Mapocho Station and Central Market, Plaza de Armas and the beautiful cathedral there, just to name a few.

It's a very modern city and has plenty to offer in the way of arts and culture as well.

The weather is usually mild without extremes in temperatures. It's dry in the summer and rains in the winter.

Use the public transportation- the buses. They will take you down the main avenues and you can get dropped off anywhere along the way.

visit san cristobal - it is considered the best site in santiago, but don't go on a cloudy day.

go to the zoo.

santiago is very much like any u.s. city -it has KFC, Pizza Hut, and Blockbuster. The schools are mainly private - the public schools are generally made up of the poorer families within and outside of the city. They are sadly looked down upon. The private schools are, for the most part, catholic.

There are different sections to the city, some of which are more residential.

Las Condes is boring.

Chileno hasta la muerte!!!!
