The resort is an older one, but when I was briefly there last June it seemed to well kept up. Current owners seem to be making investments in the place.
There are really no very nice beaches near Puntarenas. You are in the Gulf of Nicoya and the beaches are a mixture of sand and silt and tend to be dark grey. The area is pretty quiet-- Puntarenas does not have a huge night life and much of that that does exist is not oriented to the tourist (i.e. non-Spanish speaker) and the resort is maybe 5 miles from Puntarenas itself in a relatively isolated setting.
The resort is located so that you have relatively easy access to Isla de Tortuga (a nice day trip to a white sand beach), Monteverde and Jaco. People I talked to me told me the food was good.
On the up side, the Fiesta resort is one of the few resorts where you will meet Costa Ricans. According to today's Nacion, about 60% of the guests at the Fiesta Resort are Costa Rican. |

It´s ok... a typical All Inclusive Resort, very popular among costaricans, so don´t go during high season! Many families with children.
The food is very good, the rooms, it would be better to pay for the new ones, because the old building is not good. The beach, don´t even think about it, it is dirty, and it can be dangerous. It would be better to visit any beach in Guanacaste. |

If you want something in that same area check out Barcelo Playa Tambor. It's an all inclusive resort in the same area. I stayed there for 4 days back in November and had a blast. The food and drinks are great and the staff is very friendly. |

Punteranas is a port town, cruise ships drop off there.
Nothing worth seeing there, dont walk on the beach, a Canadian couple were attacked at knifepoint the 2 weeks ago, she was salashed across the face.
