Anyone been to Peru?

I am going to Lima, Peru for two months. I have been there four times before, so I was wondering if anyone has a suggestion of what to do while I'm there. Something that was really cool, but not necissarily well known. Something more off the beaten path. And the cheaper the better! Thanks for your help!

It really depends if you are planning to stay just in Lima or willing to do some travelling around the country. If you are staying in Lima there are several day trips that you should consider... Pachacamac(Archeological museum and ruins about an hour south from Lima), Lomas de Lachay(About two hours north, better during September), Cieneguilla(Valley 45 minutes east of Lima, very nice!). Go to http://www.peru.info/perueng.asp and you will be able to see a lot more and even find a tourist calendar that will help you choose the right days to travel around if you want to be part of festivities.

Yes, i have i absolutely loved it! When you go definately visit macchu pichu, its really a great place. Also you should go down to the river and go river rafting. This was a once in a lifetime experience you see all the beautiful animals like Llamas! and also alpacas. Peru is wonderful!

Some places around Lima that are interesting to visit, but not too well known are the Museum of the Inquisition, the Museum of Erotic Archaeology, Pachacamac Archaeological site and Pantanas de Villas National park (birdwatching), as well as just oustide of the city the Lachay de Lomas Reserve, Nazca National Park and Ballestas Island Reserve.

But the most interesting places in Peru are away from the big city: Cusco, Machu Picchu, The Sacred Valley, the Cordillera Blanca, Lake Titicaca and the Amazon forest.

i have been there.
Go to macchu picchu and see the ruins.
There are also amazon tours that are cool.
Or you can go to lake titicaca for the day. the people are nice and hospitable there
They have a museum there to see inca artifacts too.
if you want an upscale area to hang out in go to miraflores.
Have fun on the beach.

If you're staying two months you'll have plenty of time to make a trip to a different city.If you're planning to go soon, you'll be during winter, so I'd suggest going to Tumbes (The north from Lima) you can take a bus ( fares are around $40-50 round trip), once you get there go to Mancora, great beach, cheap food and cheap motels. You'd have an amazing time there, far from the city with sunny weather.

No but I want to go there
