In what sense? You need some parameters to compare them. Just because they're neighbours and south americans dont assume that are all the same! Different countries, different food, different people, different accents! Must I assume then that americans and canadians are similar too? Or americans and mexicans? |

Colombians themselves are a very diverse group of people...let alone comparing us to another Country.
I could see why you can make the assumption being that Ecuador was once part of the Original Grand Colombia.
But to me it seems like Ecuadorians do have their differences and have been able to culturally make something that is unique to them......I traveled to many countries in South America....and I am amazed with the uniqueness of the cultures each nations brings forth. |

it depends because there are many ethnic population in different zones, therefore, it depends on the zone youre talking about, so, if you want you could be more specific!
btw most accents are different :) |

Colombians are very different from Ecuadorians. Starting with accents, culture, and ethnicity.. The only thing Similar would that Ecuador is close to Colombia. That's pretty much it..
Take care..

Yes and No. Similar in the fact of the diversity of skin colors and language.
What is really different ist the behavior from both countries. They share a border but we are completly different.
Colombian people are very hard working as ecuadorians are but they cheat on the people if they have a chance to do it and for their own benefit.
I am not saying all of them but the ones that I have met in my country (Ecuador) they are like that.
I don´t know how ist the behavior in their country but in my country we have to take care. |

Some Colombians are pretty similar to Ecuadorians, especially in the border-neighbouring cities like Pasto and Ipiales. Cali and Pasto have loads of Ecuadorians selling handcraft and Inversora Pichincha (Ecuadorian Bank) is all over Colombia.
Music-wise, Ecuatoria Guasca is heard all over Nariño, the boarder-abutting department.
There used to be a times when Ecuador had thousands of Colombian tourists when they had the Sucre. However ever since Ecuador has opted to change their currency to the dollar, the tourism marriage has been spoilt.
If you go to Ecuador most of the imported goods, especially food, furniture and raw material comes from Colombia. This is very apparent in shopping centres that boast Colombian like El Jardin in Quito, whose construction materials are Colombian. |
