Are amazon river tours dangerous....?

Hey I’m from da UK and next yr after graduation me and my friends are deciding on what country to travel as a holiday for few weeks.

I want sumtin exciting and adventurous so I have chosen - South America more likely Brazil or Peru

My other mate – wants to go to New York because she crazy about USA

And my other mate wants to go to India Goa and Mumbai because she heard lots of good stuff there to see and do,

well anyway if we do go to brazil or Peru, I would like to see the Amazon river, now I can’t swim and I’m not in love with crocodiles and snakes but I want to experience something out of my comfort zone,

So I was wondering are the Amazon River tours dangerous e.g. are they safe tours with good reliable boats and safety etc... I have read the information on the website but im not sure, because the Amazon is a bit scary

Any advice.....?
