The power is the same, so you don't need an adapter or converter. The only thing you need to be aware of is that very few outlets have a grounding prong, so you'll need to bring an adapter to convert your three-pin device (most electronics) to two. These are dirt cheap and can be found at any hardware store. |

Everyone else covered the plug ins but they all failed to mention that our cell phones DO NOT WORK in CR. I take a SAT phone when I go but you can rent cell phones there. |

Most power outlets in Costa Rica are the same as in the US. Even though 220V is also used, it is mostly used in residences, and not in the major hotels or tourist places. You can go to any supermarket, hardware store or electronics retailer if you should run into any problems. |

In Costa Rica, power outlets are the same as in the U.S. (110). Only stoves use 220.
In either case, an adapter is not necessary.

Costa Rica has the same frequency and voltage, and they use the same plug and outlet designs as US
