A lot of Latin American countries are open to immigrants. You can enter latin american countries and find a job. The company, in most of the cases should solicit a working permit that is given (in the case of Guatemala) in 3 months the most. At the same time your temporal residency is given.
Central American countries are more open. Specially Guatemala and Panama. Costa Rica is very burocratic in immigration policies... so the procedure takes quite a long time. |

For example Costa Rica and Panama will let retirees immigrate if they can prove a pension income of at least $600 a month or if you will deposit $60-$100 k in local banks or if you buy a business worth $100-$200k. |

I hope you are not one of those stupids anti-immigrants that think, I don't know why, that "Latin American countries shoot on their immigrants". Like any country, including the USA, Latin American countries have immigration rules. But let me give you an interesting fact. There are millons of Paraguayans, Bolivians and Peruvians in Argentina. They are poor immigrants, in search of better salaries. Guess what, if you're from any country of South America you don't need a visa to go to Argentina. In the borders there is no wall, nothing. To go from one country to another all you have to do is cross the border. In all South America is that way. In Ecuador lives one million Colombians as refugees, scaping from the guerrillas. Lots of Nicaraguans in Costa Rica too. Ok? |

Probably the best way to get a resident visa in latin america is to get a job there. A lot of foreigner's teach english since many countries are in demand for native english speakers. Don't think that you are giong to go there and be hired just becase you're american or where ever you're from. You need to have a degree or at least a CELTA (or something equivalent) to prove you can actually teach english. |

You mean without obtaining a work visa? Colombia, Bolivia, Peru and Chile all require work or other visas for stays longer than around 2 or 3 months.

we have received inmigrants for more that 150 years......i think it is time for another countries now..We are part of that inmigration... most of us...... america's citizens are product of that inmigration...
Our family names tell that, and we are proud..but i think that we have done enough.....now is time for another countries, like USA...................where in spite of they dont like inmigrants...........they have grown up as a country, thanks to the inmigration. |
