Are you in favor of the closure of RCTV venezuela and the protests?

I'm watching what is now one of the last minutes of RCTV venezuela (radio caracas television).

I grew up watching that channel. In fact, it was the only TV station to show the landing on the moon in 1.969 (I was six). It's a blow to the stomach to freedom of speech. If you don't like the channel, just block it. The only reason why chavez (I don't use capital letters when writing that name) is closing it down is political. What a shame. I'm very sad because we're now on the fast lane towards communism. I don't think he'll finally make it, but in the process the country will be left in shambles.

"RCTV engaged in treason when they assisted in the failed CIA-led coup against Chavez. For proof of this, simply watch "Chavez: The Revolution Will Not Be Televised". "

Dumby is referring to shots they Government says weren't protestors. The reality was the film clearly show the police shooting from the roofs at a much later time of the day than "empty streets" shown in the clips.

Chavez is a monster and this error of his will be the biggest step in his fall. Oil price declines in the fall and a warm winter in the US will have him deposed by March 2008. If he were as smart as Castro he wouldn't have the crime and dirsorder he does.

I think Chavez is crazy, and thinks don't change, the path for those people is not going to look good.

Mrs. Obama rules!
Not in favour, this is just another step Chavez takes in order to make Venezuela another Cuba. Freedom of speech is imperative, Venezuelans need to get rid of that aweful man as soon as possible. Otherwise he will become America's next dictator for the next 30 years, just like Castro.

I'm not in favor, in fact... I think chavez sux ...

Dr Fred
If Chavez was a right wing politician who was closeing down the oposition radio stations there would be an outcry in all of the major citeis of the world and protests.

Chavez is a dictator, who chooses to appear leftist. For that reason much of the world allows him to do things that no other leader could get away with.

Many of the same people who defend and applaud Chavez complain about loss of freedoms here in the democratic western nations. In fact there are no comparisons possible. Chavez is really taking away rights, while in the US and elsewhere it is largely fear.

My only hope is that Venezuela will give the guy the boot when oil prices fall down from the recent unsustainable levels. Chavez realizes this and he is solidifying his power.

Russian bribes kept Cuba afloat for decades, and when they dried up his power was solidly in place. The high oil prices may allow Chavez to instal himself as dictator in Venezuela for decades long after they dry up.

So sad that his people will suffer because of the ignorant hopes on his socialist/communist ideals.

I am not in favor of the closure. I believe everybody has the right to choose what to watch. It's not the same thing not watching a channel because you don't want to, to not watching it because the government says so.

Ducky
I am. RCTV engaged in treason when they assisted in the failed CIA-led coup against Chavez. For proof of this, simply watch "Chavez: The Revolution Will Not Be Televised". On the day after the coup ... amazingly ... the details of the coup (and in particular, the role played by RCTV and other private broadcasters) were spelled out in detail by those who perpetrated the crime.

RC Te Vas ... no tears.

How much you guys want to bet that the next step is going to be taking away cable tv from many homes? this guy wants everyone to watch his channels to keep brainwashing people.

well i'll tell u this:
estoy totalmente d acuerdo con la negacion a renovarle la concesion a RCTV (no es cierre) pero no creo q sea logico protestar y causar tanto alboroto por algo tan estupido. Aun van a seguir transmitiendo por cable, y mucha d la poblacion venzolana tiene cable; aqui en Maracay ha sido un alboroto desd el sabado por el supuesto cierre; lo cual repito considero ilogca la protesta.

Another Face Of Me
Estoy a favor de no renovar la concesion (nadie dijo que lo ivan a cerrar)
I am in favor of not renewing the permission to air the channel at national free frequency( no one said it was geeting closed)
