Some votes have already been counted. They are counted at each table immediately after they close. they started to close tables at 4:30pm after Tibisay Lucena made the announcement.

Mrs. Obama rules!
Oh my God, you are so gullible.....sorry to say that pal but the "SI" won before the people went to vote. The same happened in the last elections, everyone voted against Chavez but yet he won... and now people have voted as a mere formality, Chavez plans to stay in power longer than his pal Castro. The only way Venezuela will get rid of him is a way I can't write it in YA as they will cancel my account if I say so!!!

so you really think Hugo cares about counting the votes? LOL.....They will go as he says they will go.

You actually think the votes will get counted. The press release with the results was probably finished on Thursday.

Venezuela is screwed. Chavez will remain in power until either the oil runs out or it drops below $60 a barrel. There have been lots of madmen dictators in the last 100 years, but few with the kind of oil windfall profits Chavez has enjoyed in his "tenure."

If anybody has been watching Chavez's antics before the election (waving a gun around saying he'd take up arms if necessary in a thinly-veiled threat that he's going to hold on to power no matter what, saying that he'd cut off oil exports to the U.S. if they questioned the vote) gets the idea that it's going to be rigged. It would be the miracle of all miracles if somehow the referendum went against him.

Therefore, the schedule of when the votes are counted is irrelevant, but within a couple of hours, for the sake of all Venezuelans and the region, I hope I and my fellow answerers are proven wrong.
