Beach recommendations near Panama City, Panama? |
Can anyone recommend good beaches near Panama City. Also, what are the laws/customs related to sunbathing topless? Is it commonly accepted or are there seperate beach areas for it or none of the above? |

I would recommend going to Playa Blanca, that's the nicest beach near Panama city, white sand, beautifully sight. There is a lodging place there called "Las sirenas" they have a web site, check it out. I would also recommend Coronado beach, although black and white sand (salt & peper), it is very quiet for swimming. Coronado has restaurants and a hotel with a 18 hole proffesional golf course.
All the beaches on the pacific coast are all right.
If you want paradise, then go to Contadora Island. It is a 15 minutes plane ride from Panama city to Contadora Island, there are a few hotels and hostels. I would advise not to eat at the main hotel. Find the restaurant owned by a guy from Austria. |

You can take a 1hour (i think) ferry to the island of taboga. They ahve a great beach there, although no toplessness. Also try Farallon which is on the Pacific coast just west of Chorrera. The waters a little rough but its nice none the less.
An all-inclusive beach resort just opened up near panma called Decamaron. look it up. Its built by the same peoepl who built Multi Plaza and Plaza Pacifica malls in Panama. (Columbians) |

The closest beach is Playa Bonita, about 20 minutes away. The resort has very good swiming pools and the rooms are ok.
Coronado is about an hour away. The beach is nice, and it has a good hotel and golf course. www.coronadoesvida.com
The best is Playa Blanca. About an hour and a half drive. There are a couple of hotels, but the best is Playa Blanca Resort.
Contadora at the pearl islands, is a real paradise. You need to fly to get there. |
