Has anyone ever lived or been to Peru before? Care to give any recommendations or must see suggestions?!

Yes my friend, I lived there most of my life and I can assure you it is an extraordinary country.
Depending on your time I recommend you to visit Cusco and do the Inca Trail, as well as Arequipa and if you stay in Lima, the capital, visit Barranco and Miraflores, districts close to the Pacific Ocean.
If you want to know more you can visit my blog http://www.inkafields.blogspot.com/

I am peruvian but I have live in the USA for almost 20 years, the last few years I have gone back almost every year.
Every year I've been back I have always travel to the provinces to visit some archeological places... I have been to Machu Picchu 3 times and still every time amazes me the same because I always find interesting things that I have learned through the books but haven't seen in person.
I also have been in the north and south coast of Peru... There a lot of interesting things to visit...and see (mostly archeological)
I don't know what your interest are but Peru is very rich in history, flora and fauna... I would recommend you to read first about and then decide what you might want to do.
There is a link you might want to take a look first. Thank you for your interest in visiting Peru...I don't think you will regret it.

?
Well, I am Peruvian and i live in Lima, Peru. Even here where i am, which is the capital you can find many touristic places to visit such as Pachacamac which are ruins, and all the museums!
Again you can go to Mancora, if you want beach, which is absolutely gorgeous. We have beaches all over Lima, since we are in the cost but they are not very clean so i don't recommend most of them, still you can find a very few nice ones.
Of course you can visit our so known Macchu Picchu, which is more than stunning!
And soooooo much more...!
If you need any more info, please do not hesitate on telling me!

I am in Peru now on vacation, and so far, the highlight of our trip was climbing to the top of the neighboring mountain of Macchu Piccu called Haina Piccu. We saw MP from down below, and it was most amazing. It was quite a trek (do it in the morning), but it well worth it. Also, you have to see the Ollantaytambo ruins, and it is in the the most charming town. Go to the Inka Traveler's restaurant - the chicken and fish in town, in Peru maybe! And the shopping in Lima was great! We spent a third of our money there and we were only there for two days! Take the Peru train, the luxury car if you can, most enjoyable. And go the Pisac market on Sunday, the best day of the week, lots of great shopping. Those are the highlights so far, but we have plenty more to see - the Amazon and Lake Titicaca. Hope you come here soon!
