My vote goes to Colombia. It's so pretty. It has one of the most beautiful landscapes I've ever seen. And the food.. hmmm yummy yummy. The people are very friendly also.

But of course, most of the other countries are very nice and all of them have something interesting to see. It's a shame you can only go to one country.

Im Colombian, and my country is GREAT. A lot of history (Prince, castles, and wars), mountains, great parties, everybody (How we say in colombian and venezuelan "son mamadores de gallo") goofy and funny, they are always pulling pranks on you. The people are very warm, and there is over 10 different accents in Colombia?? So, i was borned in Bogota, the capital, and it is a nice cold, its pretty much like NY. Raised in Cartagena, where the most beautiful beaches are, also where the castle and the big wall,, also
"El museo de oro" Gold Museum, where all the antic gold of the Natives remains and their history too, and its like a mix of Las Vegas and Miami. Cali, is the party city, man whereva you go there is a party!

Colombia would be your best choice. It is still virgin territory for tourist and you can make more of your money since it is not as expensive as other South American countries.

Chile! It's safe, clean and has the driest desert in the world and excellent skiing and beaches and you can get to Patagonia! Plus it's cheap!

I've visited several but I reckon if i had to pick just one it would have to be Chile. It is so long and skiny that it takes in almost all climates and has the most diverse range of scenery of any ...from the antartic in the south where you can walk with the penguins and sail through the fjiords full of floating ice sculptures to the Atacama desert full of mystery and mirage. There is the pacific coast and the Andean mountain range. The central mediteranean wine growing areas. A lake district with snow capped volcanic mountans and hot springs. Wonderful national parks full of glaciers and amazing wildlife. The first sight of a condor is awesome. Moving up and down the Pan American is easy but further south can be tricky and when I went you had to go into Arg. to get back into S.Chile but that was an interesting diversion.Good luck
