Best places in south America to visit?

I am an outdoor person who wants to find somewhere with beaches and mountains where i can spend my days in warm sun with out a lot of presence around. I enjoy kayaking and rock climbing as well as just plain hiking. I would like somewhere with rich culture but I am unsure of where to go. If you have been or heard great things about somewhere in south america, i would love to hear about it.

South America can give all you are asking for...
All the Caribbean countries have great beaches...Venezuela with isla margarita and Angel fall (the highest in the world), Guyana,ç. I the Pacific Coast Colombia is so beautiful with many interesting places to visit. ..also Ecuador, with Galápagos islands. More to the south... Chile with the Andes mountains, you can visit Perú too. You can go to Machu Pichu there and to make the Inca's way. Bolivia and Paraguay havent coasts but have natural beauties, as the Iguazú falls in Paraguay (share them with Argentina and Brazil)
Argentina has mountains and great places for winter sports as Bariloche and Mendoza.
Uruguay has not mountains, but has the greatest beaches as well as Brazil on the Atlantic Ocean. Punta del Este (in Uruguay) is a must in South America, but if you like calm and without a lot of presence around, then go to Punta del Diablo, Aguas Dulces or Valizas in Uruguay.....are fishermen little towns where pple enjoy summer without crowds. Watch this sites

You should go to Colombia, the country is very beautiful and safe, in the major touristic centers like Medellin, Bogota, Cartagena, San Andres you feel as safe as you would in any city in the US, in fact all these cities are safer than Washington D.C according to an international agency.
Also you can find great places to kayak, climb and hike all at the same time; incredible places that you've never seen before, like the beaches in San Andres where the sea has 7 colours, or the natural parks scattered all over the country.
Another important thing is that the people there is the nicest people in all of latin america.
Hope this helps

Go to Peru, from lima you can take a fly to go to cusco and visit Macchu Picchu and you can say you had the privilege to visit one of the wonders of the world. And its a PERFECT place to climb and hike.Ans of course it has the richest culture and an ancient cicvilization (the Incas). My husband is super outdorsy just like you and HE LOVED IT, he got to do climbing, kayaking, he got to see the mountains and the jungle par tof PERU(the Amazon) and he didnt wanna come back to the states :)If you wanna go to the beaches, the south of lime is the place to be, nice beaches and beautiful people.
