Absolutely Brazil, Costa Rica is a nice country but is not in the same league with Brazil for nightlife and beaches.I have been to both countries several times.

Brazil. Costa Rica is a nice place to live but I wouldn't want to visit there.
I do live in Costa Rica. I have worked in Latin America all my adult life. For night clubs Costa Rica is not so hot and very expensive and no longer notably safe.
For beaches it is a tie, both have great beaches, most mobbed, some beautiful. But in Costa Rica the almost decent night clubs are not near the beaches, in Brazil, they are.
Recently another popular tourist beach in in C.R. was found to have 300 times the allowed amount of E.coli (Fecal content, sh*t, as we commonly call it). Brazil has some bad beaches but none that bad.
For a 2 week vacation Brazil, hands down. It will be cheaper for fun and games once you are there. |

First comes to mind is Brazil, no doubt. I guess your budget is enough to afford a trip to Brazil, but if not, go to Costa Rica it´s a great country, terrific place, and I believe the travel would be cheaper |

costa rica is much much safer and there is so much to do .
the nightlife is great but like any other counrty in the world it depends on where you are in that particular country.
if you go to costa rica fly in Liberia Airport (LIR) and Tamarindo or Playa del Coco are 2 great spots.both very small twn but a ton of fun.I actually bought 2 condos in Coco and i am going in a week.I try to go 5 times a year and it is always a blast |
