Its south of south america, because austrailia starts on about 11ΒΊ or 12ΒΊ Southern latitude and s. america starts on about the 12 or 13ΒΊ Norther latitude.
and as far as west is concerned, australia is simply to the west of south america, |

Actually yes. It is because of its location in reference to the equator. For example, the northern parts of Australia are actually colder than the souther parts because of its location. It can get kind of confusing. |
