Can I go back to Colombia if I overstayed my last tourist visa?

I know that all I need for visiting Colombia is my United States passport. That's what I used the last 2 times I visited Colombia. Each time they gave me 2 months to stay. But the last time I stayed longer than 2 months and I had to pay a fine. I arrived in Colombia in November 2006 and I left Colombia in June 2007. So I had to pay a fine for staying longer than 2 months.

My question is "Can I visit Colombia again even though I got in trouble for staying too long the last time I visited?"

I guess since I paid the fine, then I should be able to visit Colombia again? I do not know for sure.

I want to go in the summer, but I will only be staying 3 weeks this time. I will be going to Medellin only, to visit some friends.

Just a hypothetical question.
If you invite a guest to your house and suddenly he would not leave as arranged and you would need force go get him out of your house, would you invite him again?

Answer the question for yourself.

Almost all of the Latin American countries will fine you if you overstay your visa or tourist card. They do not ban you from ever returning. You can go back anytime you like.

I should not worry about it. Colombian's get penalised for overstaying in the US and are usually not allowed back it, much less renew their visas.

For foreigners getting into Colombia the system is very lenient,

You paid your fine. I am certain you won't have any trouble getting back in.

Have fun in Medellin! Go to Guatape!!!
