Can a person save money by living in Santiago, Chile?

I'm considering moving to Santiago, Chile. My housing will be provided. Is it possible to save money or is the cost of living too high?

Actually, it sounds like Santiago is a very reasonably-priced place to live. I did a search on google for "cost of living santiago" and came up with several references. Here is one:

It's a big city, so it will not be as cheap as smaller towns in Chile, but overall, countries in Latin America are less expensive that in the U.S. (where I assume you're from).

I lived in Lima, Peru for two years, and rent was by far the most expensive thing for me. So if you have that covered, you should easily be able to save money.

I have a friend living in Chile, and she says that U.S. cell phone companies often try out their produces in Chile before they release them in the U.S., so Chile has great deals on cell phone. One more way to make life less expensive!

only if you have starter money alot of people in brazil and chile and paraguay have bad slum problems but you could get people to do stuff for cheap

If you are going to move from the USA to Santiago de Chile, yes you will be able to save money, everything is way cheaper than here (states) food, groceries, Beer, wine.
