Can anyone tell me roughly how much a 14 day trip to Costa Rica in March may cost (excluding airfare)? |
I am planning a 14 day trip to Costa Rica with myself and my girlfriend in Mid March 2007. I already have a great deal on the airfare, but I am wondering what I should expect as far as a TOTAL price for the actual time in Costa Rica. This would include food, lodging, transportation, attractions, etc. I am planning a trip that would take us all over the country...a night here, a night there...I know this is an IMPOSSIBLE question to answer, but I am just looking to hear from people who have done this on a moderate budget. Thanks All! Additional Details So you think 1300 for BOTH of us for 2 weeks??? I would be completely happy with that. Has anyone actually gone to costa rica for 2 weeks? or is this just an outside estimate? Great answers guys! Thanks! |

$400 hotels (nice hotels)
$300 food
$600 organized tours total $1300
If your girl friend is not high maintenance and wants to stay in hostels and take the buses and eat in cheaper restaurants you can do it for about $800 http://costa-rica-guide.com/travel/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=454&Itemid=684 http://www.hostelworld.com/findabed.php
Here are a couple of websites that may help you. Also go to the library or book store and pick up a book called "costa rica handbook" |

Depends on how you want to live. I was in Costa Rica in Sept. for 9 days; rented a car and took off. Stayed in a few dive motels (cater to scub divers) for as little as $18 per night. They had showers and a bed. Stayed in a nice hotel in Quepas for 4 nights at about $60 per night. You can have a great meal most places for as little as $8 each. In 9 days I spent about $600 cash, including gifts to bring home. $50 per day for the rental car was put on a card. You're gonna love CR. |

I like "moderate budget" that is what travel is all about getting to know the place, people, food . . . . not locking yourself in a hotel all day long. Anyhow. . . . food id inexpensive, you can find some pretty cheap hotels. Just to be on the safe side per person 1000.USD it seems like like a lot I know but and it may be just depends on where you eat and stay and what you spend your money on but never carry more the full amount, take money aout from tellers at banks when you start running low.
Don't worry to much just go have FUN |

I just got back with my broke *** friend. We spent 10 days there and spent $850 us on our flight and resort all inclusive, even though we were hardly ever there, and another $500 touring around, renting cars, motorcycles, $100 in souviniers, drugs, and women. I guess it is the most expensive country in central america but i felt it was still pretty cheap. Avg. cost of a bottle of beer is 75cents at a market, 1-2 bucks at a bar. you and your girlfriend must visit arenal volcano, spend a day there and get a pass to either baldi hot springs ($20) or tabacon ($50) you will not regret it. you can sit in a huge hot spring and watch the lava flow down the side of the volcano, totally awesome. the resorts can be pricey, but there are alot of good deals if you are flexible. |

It depends on where you're leaving from , and what kind of hotels you will accept. You can stay in hotels for as little as $100 /night or as much as $350/night or more.I would budget at least $250 per day. Therefore 14 times $250=$3500. |
