A question:

Is your passport a Salvadoran passport or a US passport?

If it is a US passport, you will not be allowed to board the plane in the US, and even if you did, you would not be able to return.

If on the other hand your passport is Salvadoran, you should not have a problem flying to El Salvador as long as you have proper identification. You still will not be able to retun to the US with an expired passport, though.

I've had many friends who have flown to El Salvador with expired passports, have had a new one issued there, and flown back to the US without problems.

Go to your embassy wherever you are and solve it there.
Why to have bad moments in some airport if you can travel with all ur documentation in order???

Good luck..

Stan P
While El Salvador may allow you entry by virtue of your citizenship, the airlines will likely not board you at all. Best bet is to renew the passport at your Embassy or nearest Consulate while still in the United States.

Check for their websites as there are rules for making appointments, paperwork and fees.

most countries will give you a temporary document that will allow you to use your expired passport, contact your embassy or INS. You will have to get a new one before you come back.

i do not think so, you may be able to go, but you will not be able to come back

Seadog
No, I don't believe you can. I think you must show it on departure from the U.S. and I am absolutely sure you would be required to produce it in El Salvadore.

BAGOFSWAGS
You won't be allowed on the plane. If they miss the expiry date and you get to El Salvador, you will be allowed to enter, since you're a citizen.
