Can my american money go far in peru and chile?

can 10,000 american last long in peru and chile

Definitely! In Perú the exchange rate between from dollars to soles is currently 2.89, so with $10,000 you'll have S./ 28.900 (28,900 soles).

Depending on what sort of activities you want to pursue in Perú, that amount of money should last a long time. You might spend an average of 50 to 100 soles in food per week, again depending on what you buy (vegetables are quite affordable). The rest goes for any clothing, movie trips, nights out, or travelling you may want to do while in the country.

Just be wise whenever you go out; don`t carry it all with you at once. You will have a great time!

Hi my name is Renny, Well beside the tour expenses a hundread american dollars per day in your pocket will be more than enough as an average, but if you are compulsive when it comes to buy expensive things like jewels or very fine textiles, so your credit card will be important.

Now there are ATM machines in most of the places of Peru and South America to make much easier the journey with travel agencies to change dollars into soles(Peru) or pesos(Chile)

All the main destinations like Cusco, Arequipa and Lima, Quito have many ATM machines. In other destinations will be a liitle dificult to get them, but if you are traveling with a travel company your tour guide can explain and show the travel agencies . Just in case if you want to travel to Peru, you can make a flexible budget with cheap prices at www.southamericamyjourney.com

Do the math:

A nice room : $ 100 - $ 200 a month
Food : $ 10 per day
Transportation: $ 3 - $5 costs a taxi service.

Prices given are the average costs in Lima

It will go very far if you show it to anyone. As in far away and youl be left with nothing. Take an ATM card or two. Use those, much easier and a LOT safer.

peru teacher
Yes, but with the falling dollar every day you can buy less
