Actually, you can organize the trip yourself. When you arrive in Cuzco, just buy a ticket on the train to Aguas Calientes, now known as the town of Machu Pichu). There are three different classes of trains that go there, so choose which one you like and your pocketbook can afford. Upon arrival, either buy a bus ticket up the mountain or just walk up to the park entrance yourself. At the gate, pay the admission fee and you're there!
Alternately, you could go into any one of hundreds of travel agencies around the Plaza de Armas and buy a group guided tour or with your own private guide.
