Can you realistically rent a 1 room apartment in Costa Rica for 300-350$? |
or are all these advertisements scams? My girlfriend and I are interested in relocating for +3 months to Costa Rica and we have lived frugally in Europe and Canada so we are looking to relax somewhere where our money is worth more, rather than less. |

Yes, you can really rent a one room apartment in Costa Rica for $300 to $350. I rent a 2 bedroom apartment for $200 a month, so you can actually look for a better deal. There are many safe neighborhoods in Costa Rica where you can find really good deals. If you live outside the big cities, you can find really nice places for your price range. We have a lot of real estate agents, offices, etc., listed on the TicosLand.com website. Take a look. The site is in English and Spanish. |

Apartments have a big range of prices depending on were you want to stay. You can get a small apartment for that price, but be careful about the location.
Here is a link to the biggest newspaper in Costa Rica, tell someone to help you see the apartments for rent.

It has a search engine for apartments for rent that will help you out.
Have a good one |

You bet you can! Right now Costa Rica housing market has been over built and with slow real estate sales owners are renting for the cash flow. I was down in Golfito a few months ago and saw a nice one-bedroom house right on the water for $320/month.
Your best best is to find and area you like and get the local Spanish paper where they offer the best deals since they are dealing with the locals and not the gringos.
In Jaco (not a quite town) they are building condos like crazy and having a hard time selling them, so many are going to rent. One of my accounts just made a deal with one where they have rented a 2 bedroom with a great view for $375/month and they plan to keep it for their clients stay. |

I was living in a $300 apartment about 9 months ago, in San Jose, yes it is totally possible to find an apartment for those prices but if you want less, it is going to be on the ugly parts of the city.
for $350 you can rent an apartment near the UCR(University of Costa Rica) that is pretty decend and probably 2 bedrooms, gated community, etc |

Yes you can but you wont live in a nice place.
Don't fall for the "oh life is so cheap down there", it's not. It is if your greedy and you don't mind living in an ugly part of the city.
Oh and if you want to stay by the beach it's more expensive, you can stay in some cheap "motels" called "cabinas", they're far from luxurious. If you pay cheap you will see cheap. |

Yes, you can. There are many smaller hotels on the Atlantic side, Punta Cana. It's very warm there, but very nice. San Jose is a constant temperature of 73*, it's quite expensive. |
