Hey you very beautiful and beautiful women is one good part in brazil.

Part that everyone know
At last,One big democracy
First thing that come to my mind is:Soccer
Then amazonian jungle and river
South of Brazil is rich,industrial, German and italian
north is ancient plantations, slavery

Now the really sad part
5% of the population own 98% of the wealth
You can kill your wife if there is proof that she is unfaithful, law will be lenient toward the man(hope Lula change that macho colonial law).
The favelas(ghettos) have the worst gangs in the world thank to poverty.
The police have free hand when it come to deal with criminal areas.
They usually rape,execute or dismember them to take the vital organ of 12-17 year old children to be sold.There is no control when dealing with crime.
Child prostitution attract million tourist from Europe, united states and Japan.The new Brazilian government still didn't do anything meaningful to prevent this.

Police corruption, while less worst then Mexico, is till a big problem.

Aids is another problem that plague the poor.Child prostitution in brazil is worst than costa rica. Aids came to brazil during the 1980s with increasing of gay north american tourists.

There is some hope, at least you got Lula at last

To me (I'm American), Brazil and the rest of South America has the reputation of corrupt police, brutal dictatorships, even more brutal drug lords and other gangsters and constant civil war or similar civil unrest. Not to mention it is known to have the highest rate of kidnapping of foreigners in the world.
Due to this reputation, I do not wish to go there any time soon.
However, everyone I met who immigrated to the US are the nicest, most intelligent and creative people I have ever met. and I would love to meet more on a individual basis.
