Cheap flights to Tacna (Peru) from San Francisco?

Well, it appears that we waited to long to book our flights. Now we are trying to get tickets from SFO (or OAK) to Tacna, Peru (TCQ). We want to fly there between 12/17 and 12/20 and return on 1/7/007. The advertized prices keep getting more and more ridiculous.

Any suggestions? I don't mind riding with the baggage.

hi
well, basically, what you have to do is take a flight to lima, and from there you have a conection to tacna
if prices are high, take a conection to the beautiful city of arequipa from lima(no trouble to buy a flight on the same day since there are about 4 daily flights) , i recomend Lan Chile , the flight cost 110$.
once you are in arequipa, you can either take a flight, or a comfortable 6 hours bus to tacna.
by the way, i have been in tacna 3 days ago, the city is not attractive at all, are you going there in order to arrive to arica?
So what i recomend is a flight to lima, then a flight to arequipa, and then a bus to tacna, once again, tacna is not worth the hussle, its a little bit dangerous too, arica is nice though, lauca park tour is recomended and you can head to iquique and san pedro de atacama later on.
If you need clarification on something just email me at elid1979@yahoo.com or through the comments here
take care

You have to come to Lima first then you can take a flight to Tacna, there are different airlines traveling inside Peru, the cheapest are: LAN, TACA and AEROCONDOR. You can take also the bus, that is cheapest. The best ones are called OLTURSA and ORMEÑO, if you decide to take them, i recommend the first floor.

I'd recommend you to take a plane to Lima (Capital of Peru) first. The cheapest airlines are always Lan [http://www.lan.com/] or Taca [http://www.taca.com/]. However, United Airlines offers good deals from time to time, so you should check their website.

Once you are in Lima I'd recommend you to take a bus to Tacna, is much cheaper. The most luxurious buses in South America belong to the company Ormeño [http://www.grupo-ormeno.com/] and the prices are way below the price of plane tickets (which by the way are between $80 and $100).

Hey-

first you should check web sites like cheaptickets.com or orbitz.com LanPeru is a good national airline thats dependable and not scary. I know they fly into Miami and maybe Atlanta but i don't think they fly to San Francisco, you could probably get a pretty good rate from there to Peru if you use another Airline. I went earlier this year and i ended up finding the chepest tickets with Contenintal. They are part of a co-op so you can get a pretty good price on reliable airlines. Good luck

Use FareChase, they search dozens of websites for you, so you dont have to!!!
Or just type "flights from san francisco to tacna" in Yahoo's search, and fill the nifty search form that comes up.
