My wife is Peruvian and we actually just got back from there and will be going to her parents for xmas also. I am waiting till September and would advise the same. One guy mentioned prices will go down and they will once Sept rolls around. I fly from Houston and prices will be around 800. Don't expect much of a drop below that as the days of the 500 ticket are gone. I would avoid a travel agent and deal directly with a carrier. I use expedia and/or travelocity to find the best airline and then I go directly to the airline to get the ticket. None of those sites, and certainly not a travel agent, will ever be lower than the carrier themselves. Agencies love to post low prices, but they do so before adding in all of their fees as well as the taxes.
Sometimes expedia or travelocity may have a combo of two different airliners and they may get you a better price and only then would I go with them. Expedia adds a five extra dollar charge to their airline tickets above what the airliner themselves charge.
Happy travels and I hope you like Peru. |

In general, the sooner you buy tickets to South America, the better: there are very few last-minute deals available. Exceptions to this are that LanPeru sometimes have decent late deals to Lima from Miami. There are almost never specials from Europe so you should definitely try and buy well in advance in this case.
In both cases, the best deals are usually available through the standard websites (ie: orbitz, travelocity, opodo, etc) although some specialist travel agencies (ie: JLA in the UK) can also be useful.
Hope this helps!

wait 'til septemeber like you say, or check periodically in well known websites like expedia.com or travelocity.com... I mean price have doubled up because is summer, but once school starts those prices are gonna drop at least half of what they're now. Btw, prices right now are from 1000 to 1200, but it drops to 300 to 500 normally |

We travel tu Lima often and he have found that
WWW.COSTAMAR.COM
always has the best prices (btw I don't work for them), if you don't find cheap fares to peru here..... it may be because of the time of the season so youll probably wont find a better deal anywhere.

I like to call this place in Sandy, Utah called Amigo Travel. They deal with a lot of Latinos. You can find their number at dexonline.com.
We fly to Lima 2-3X per year and they often have pretty good deals.
Good luck! |
