Clothes & things in Lima?

I'm going there soon and I want to know if I should bring lots of clothes and basic living things with me or can I find super cheap clothes and things all around Lima??? It would be easier if I got it there lol. For instance... how much is jeans and a sweater there? here in canada its about $20 for cheap jeans and the same for sweaters. Which is quite outrageous. I think its equivilant to what most real south americans make in a month. If they're really cheap in Lima like $1 I'll buy everyone clothes. Anyways some kind Peruvian answer my question please lol.

If you want Peruvians answering your question it would be wise to make your question in yahoo! answers in Spanish, where strangely Peruvians tend to go.

You can buy some clothes there cheaper than in Canada.

It depends on what you are looking for, like everything... if you want plain jeans no specific name brand, you can find them in a department store for $10.00, same with sweaters... if you want name brand you might find it cheaper, but there is also the risk that it isnt an original.
If you are looking for Alpaca, Wool, things that are made in Peru they will be expensive unless you go with someone who lives there and can "shop" for/with you.
No, you wont find $1 t-shirts, sweaters or jeans. And no, $20 isnt what people make in one month in Peru...

I was in Lima, Peru, 2 yrs ago. We did wander into Department stores. It seemed to me that the clothing and shoes are not cheap. You would be better off taking your own clothes with you. The craft markets where you can haggle over prices will be a good place to buy things like souvenir T-shirts and locally-made sweaters. But things like jeans and shoes, it is better to carry the ones from home.
A good craft market is at a place they call "Miraflores" in Lima.
I bought 2 vests made of Alpaca wool and sheep wool mixed....very pretty! The vendors will tell you it is made from baby alpaca wool and it IS softer than regular sheep wool. But our expert friend who was our translator and guide told me that it was a mixed alpaca-sheep wool, not pure Alpaca wool. That would cost much more, if it's pure Alpaca wool.
