If you are 100% gringo I would start in Bogota and see Monserrate, the salt cathedral Zipaquira, Piedras de tunja. I would go to Melgar or Giradot. I like the Kualamana in Melgar the best. I would also go to Cartagena and stay inside the walled city. I like Santa Marta and the parks around it. I would be more careful in Medellin and Cali it is a little more dangerous. I would see the Eje Cafetero and I would try, if I were at Santa Marta, to go to Ciudad Perdida. I would NOT go to barrancabermeja, Buenaventura, anywhere in Choco, or San Augustin (Awesome ruins) Be smart, dont wear flashy watches or flash a lot of cash. Take your ATM card. It will work almost anywhere. Davivienda lets you get up to 500K pesos a day. Others are generally less. Dont forget to dance at Andres Carne de Res in Bogota and eat at Jaramillos at Parque 93. Dont ever, ever leave your drink unattended If you can, go out to San Andres and providencia. I like the Mar Azul on San Andres. I would avoid the Sunrise. Its about a negative 200 on the one to 10 scale.

Go to the main cities like Cali, Bogota, Medellin is absolutely beautiful, Cartagena is beautiful, and there are many other places also. In Cali, you can go to the plazas and things. Medellin-you can go to see the sculptures from Fernando Botero. You can also go on the cable that goes up into the mountains-it's pretty cool. The metro is also awesome! Bogota has a cool climate and there are a lot of things you can do there. Also, if you're American, don't wear anything expensive or anything that looks expensive. Have fun!!!!

You must go to Medellin . . . stay at the casa kiwi I guarantee that if you like to party you will have a good time there. Bogota is alright, a little cold but. It you want to hit the beach go up north to the Caribbean, Cartagena is a nice city, Taganga is awesome and Tyrona national park is cool too. If you want to do some trekking do the cuidad perdida lost city trek, it's muddy with lots of mosquitoes but well worth it. Another really nice place is Salento in the coffee growing region . . . and Colombia is generally an awesome place . . . you'll love it!

you'll love it! bogota, which is in the center of the country, has a nice cool climate and is very cosmopolitan, it;s a lot of fun...cartagena, which is on the coast, is great too. it has an old colonial section with stores, restaurants, and really good hotels, and you can also go to the beach.
