NOT Venezuela. Chavez is a lunatic and if you are a Gringo you will find that in many places you are not welcome. I would, if only for security, not got. (And I live in Colombia part of the year) The Colombian accent is pretty and easy to understand. However, be aware that Colombians use verbs that are NOT accepted in other countries. For example.. Colombians use the verb"coger" which means to grab or take. But in some countries its the equivalent of the "F" word. Also, for example, Colombias would say "Estoy Mamado." which means I am tired or worn or sick and tired. However in other countries (Mexico especially) It has a very powerful sexual meaning. Colombian Spanish is very pretty.. and easy to listen to.. especially if the person speaking it has a higher level of education.. Id say NO to VZ and go to Colombia. And besides if I had to choose between Maracaibo and Cartagena.. Cartagena would win hands down every time.

Go to Colombia. The Colombian accent is almost non-existant, a very true spanish sound.

Colombia: Colombians speak Spanish very well, I've even heard other latinos from other countries say this. They're really friendly too.

Colombia is the chooise or option
neutral accent or no acent, pure spanish in Bogota DC
in Medellin, Pasto or the coast there are acents
that make Colombia special the multiculturality, nothing is the same as Peru or mexico

If you wanna learn a widely understandable spanish the Venezuela is the option because Colombians have a acent that might be difficulto to understand by other latinos.

.. Now, if you wanna learn a "different" and particular spanish accent, the Colombia is the options becase their peculiar accent make is attractive to learn it.

Definitely Colombia! If you like big cities, go to Medellin. There are many small towns where you can do language immersion as well.

Have a trip around Venezuela. Fly to Caracus for a day or two and then have a week in the Los Rocas islands. I'd then do a week in either Maricaibo or exploring the Orinocho delta. If you can manage a couple of extra days, don't miss Canaima national park.
Happy travels.

Who Am I?

Venezuela.

I'm part Venezuelan from my dad's side so I would rather go there, although Hugo Chavez seems like a moron, I have family there too.

Not Columbia.

Columbia has too much drug trafficking. So enjoy those nice accents and smell of Columbian coffee (that you won't be drinking) while your behind bars of a corrupted prison.
