It really depends what kind of things you like to do. Costa Rica has well develop eco-turism infrastructure, so you can chose many activities and have a great time. A few of my favourites include:
Whitewater Rafting
Scuba diving (If you get to Cocos Island, you can do great shark diving)
Canopy Tours
Horseback riding tours.
Coffee Tours (my parents love those)
Hiking in national parks (Volcan Irazu and Arenal, Chirripo if you are in good shape)
You can also do Parasailing or Windsurf in Arenal lake.
There is also the standard turisty thing to do (beaches, bars, museums)

There are so many things to do in CR so it truly depends on what you like to do on vacation. If you like sitting on the beach reading a book or whitewater rafting.hiking... The good thing is you can split your days up between just chilling and then spending certain days doing more active things. If you can provide some more info into your vacation style I could point you to some areas that would suit you. I have been to CR several times to many different areas of the country.
