Which beaches are better in Costa Rica? The ones on the west or east side?

Beaches on both sides are very pretty, however, the carribean side has nice white sand beaches clear calm turquoise water but are more isolated and less developed, the pacific side has better waves and tan colored sand, more developed and more things to do.

It depends on what you like best, I prefer the pacific.

The Caribbean side if you want calm, turquoise clear water

The Pacific side if you want waves, surfing and boogie boarding.

It's really a personal preference.

You'll find the better Beaches on the Pacific(West) side of Costa Rica. Tamarindo had beautiful beaches, however is a very boring location to spend a whole vacation.

Your best bet would be the Manuel Antonio area as you will find beautiful beaches as well as a lot of things to see and do. The West central part of Costa Rica offers by far the best vacation experiences for beahes, activities, and sight seeing.

theres more to do on the west side, with a variety of beaches within close proximity to each other. Also, its safer on the west side in regards to being robbed or kidnapped, but wherever you go, you have to be smart about it
go to the west side!!
either way, have fun dude!
pura vida

More to do on the Pacific side, beautiful calm waters on the Caribbean side.
