I have a Garmin handhelp and a Nuvi. I hear that the mapsource map does not contain that many roads. Where can I download a good Costa Rica GArmin GPS Map?
You will definately need to buy a paper map. There are no good Garmin maps for Costa Rica. I go down there annually, and every year I look for maps, and every year, I find nothing worth the download.
Sure, there are maps with the major roads... but there are not too many major roads, and nothing helping you when you really need it. You can be a maze of dirt roads for hours, with no GPS working map.
The best way to navigate your way through Costa Rica is to bring a good paper map. There are signs that point you in the direction of cities and towns. Look at your paper map, and look for cities on your map that match the sign that are close to where you need to go.

Garmin can forward a download site. I used it for the month of Feb was OK......but be sure to get a good map from Barns and Noble before you go. The map was 15 bucks. The down load was 125 bucks. AWLAYS double check your garmin. That will save you a bunch of time on gravel mountain roads.
