I would say Puerto Rico, since I lived there for 11 years. Why not pick both PR and Dominican Republic? They are neighbors and you can likely do one island for a week and the second for another week. |

The Dominican Republic, without a doubt. Beautiful people, great food, astonishing beaches, the best in the Caribbean (after Cuba). |

I would say Costa Rica. I lived in Costa Rica for 15 years and loved it. The people are really nice and the country is beautiful. The jungles, beaches and water falls are incredible! Go to the Manuel Antonio Beach and to their 3 main volcanoes: Irazu, Poaz and Arenal. It is a very peaceful democratic country with no army. Just be care full with the guys that will pick your pockets or steal your luggage. Other than that have fun and let me know if you liked Costa Rica. |

i have only been to Costa Rica out of the three........but Costa Rica is definitely your adventure country......white water rafting....mountain hiking.....zip lining........its beautiful too......... |
|

PS

Costa Rica is getting very popular lately. The only thing to be careful of is the howler monkeys, who enjoy throwing coconuts at you from a high tree. It can be deadly, and they have pretty good aim.
Second choice would be Puerto Rico. I would pass on Dom. Rep. Too poor, backwards, and disease-ridden.
Have a good trip. |

Definitely Puerto Rico! First off PR is a US territory, which makes it safer than DR & CR. It is less dangerous & the water is safe b/c it is US & FDA regulated. The $ is USD & people can speak english & no passport is needed!
Ok but seriously PR is beautiful & has so much to do & see. San Juan is a historic city. You can see 'El Morro' which is a 500+ yr old war fortress overlooking the ocean. & the San Jaun cathedral is the oldest church in the 'New World'. You can walk the cobblestone streets of Old San Juan & see the clorful architecture. There is so much nightlife & partying & fesivals too! Las Vegas style casinos as well & tons of shopping. The people are friendly & the food is delicious!
There is 'El Yunque' Rain Forest. It is lush mountains w/ gorgeous waterfalls taht u can swim in! U can see the endangered puertorican parrot & here the coqui frogs sing. The Camuy caves are gorgeous too! They are the 3rd largest cave system in the world! You go down deep & tour this wonder. The worlds largest radio telescope is in Arecibo (from the movie Contact).
& the worlds biggest rum maker gives tours- Bacardi house. & You can go to 1 of the 3 Bioluminescent Bays (the best of only 6 in the world). This is water that glows when u touch it! It is amazing! U can take a small boat of kayak out so u can swim in the radiant light!
Not to mention the world class hotels & dining & Gorgeous white sand beaches all over! So anywater sport u can think of & fishing is great too. U can even take a ferry to small remote islands off the coast. PR even has an island called Mona that noone lives on, but u can take a tour, it is comparable to the Gallapagos islands w/ giant seaturtles, etc.
They call PR the 'Isla del Encanto' Island of Enchantment for a reason. ENJOY!
Ps- Look at what Christopher Columbus said:
Christopher Columbus sighted land on his first trip to Americas on October 12, 1492. The land he discovered was San Salvador in the Bahamas.
A few days later he discovered Cuba then modern day Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The following year, on his second trip, he discovered lastly the island of Borinquen, which he named San Juan Bautista, today known as Puerto Rico.
He wrote in his journal: "All the islands are very beautiful . . . but this last one seems to be superior to the others in beauty." |
