Myself and a bunch of friends went down there again this year and {thankfully} used "Economy" Rent-a-Car. I was hit and run while there and the drivers door was totaled and the other vehicle that we rented was found to have "damage" when turned in. We used our Discover cards to rent them and because we had renters insurance from them {Discover} it saved our butts! They weren't going to let us leave the country till the damage was paid for etc. but after we called Discover it was handled. Turns out that Discover OWNS Economy and inside of ten minutes it was handled by Discover. Also when we e-mailed all the photos {taken when we picked up the cars} to the rep at Discover she went ballistic on Economy as the photos proved that the "Damage" to the second vehicle was there when we picked it up. Point being, regardless who you rent from while there make sure you line yourself up full coverage insurance for the rental vehicle before getting in it. Also do a walk around with the rental agent and mark EVERY scratch / ding / paint discoloration etc. AND photograph everything while they are there { I make sure to get them in several photos } so you have a leg to stand on when they try to screw you. Finally was the difference in the price quoted on the contract and what they charged at the drop off point, almost $1000.00 differance ! Again, we sent everything to Discover and they handled it post haste. Don't forget to make sure the fuel tank has the same in it when you drop it off as the rental companys charge about twice the going rate for their fuel. It's an awseome country but it's getting worse with time and I think we've had enough so I believe we'll all go elsewhere in the future. Good Luck though !

They are a good agency but if you were to have problems (billing etc) that you had to resolve after your return to the U.S. it is a little easier (emphasis on a little) to deal with a U.S. based corporation--at least in my experience.
