You should be able to see Leatherback sea turtles in Las Baulas National Park because February is the beginning of their nesting season. For any other Costa Rica information, visit the TicosLand web directory.

Green Turtles nest around Tortuguero National Park from July to October. Leatherbacks nest at Las Baulas National Park in Guanacaste from February to June. Olive Ridley Turtles nest in Ostional in Guanacaste from August to September. Hawksbill and Loggerheads nest during the summer months in the Caribbean side.

It appears that in February your best bet would be to hit Las Baulas National Park to see nesting turtles.

February is the very end of nesting season so you should have a decent chance seeing them in your first week there. Las Baulas National Park would be a good bet, but there is nesting on other beaches North of Tamarindo. I think the turtles are done in the Ostinal/Samara areas.

I am not sure you are going to have that good of luck in Feb. I know the sea turtles are going like mad over there around this time of year. If you are going to be in Tamarindo, go to Playa Conchal...trust me it it Gorgeous and only a few minutes away from Tamarindo. Very beautiful and the water is so clear...way better than Tamarindo. Oh and if you are going on a budget ask the locals in Tamarindo where they would stay. You can get hotels there that are really cheap ($30 all the way up to $700 or $800 a night.) And they are all in the same area! Who cares you aren't going to stay in your hotel room right?

As those that have answered, Las Baulas National Park is probably the best place for turtle viewing during Feb.

For more info on, organization, conservation and protection of sea turtles and a view of their natural habitats go to http://www.ticotimes.com/costa-rica-turtles/
