Costa Rica Vacations?

My boyfriend and I decided that we are going to go to Costa Rica during my school break in March. Neither of us have ever gone, and we don't know anyone who has. Are there certain hotels, sights, websites, travel agencies, or anything else that anyone could recommend??

I would say that March is a wonderful time to visit Costa Rica. It is right in the middle of the dry season and the nights are not as cool as in December to February. Well, in Costa Rica "cool" is a relative term. Costa Ricans wear gloves, hats and scarves when it's 55 degrees out.
In any event, there are many hotel and travel agency listings in the TicosLand.com website. It is in both English and Spanish for your convenience.
Depending on your budget, I would also recommend one of the all included hotels. If you want to add sightseeing and a little adventure, they have tour offices in the hotels that can arrange everything for you.
Good luck and have a great time in Costa Rica!

If the spring break includes Easter week don't go. Easter week is when every Costa Rican that can goes to the beaches, mountains, and every place they can. Hotels are overbooked, all the car rentals are taken, the emergency rooms are jammed and all the purse snatchers, muggers and thieves are trying to get the year's take in 7 days. Even the hotels and tourist services are after a big chunk of the year's take and prices on almost everything are boosted up for that one week. Often the raises are not legal or official but they are there.

First of all, there are a huge number of things you can do in Costa Rica. From adventure tours, to birdwatching, so its kind of difficult to help you with little information. Here are some tips to narrow down your search
Try figuring out your daily budget
Get the activities, I´m making a list of the mot popular here
Surfing, canopy, horseback riding, hiking, birdwatching, fishing, diving/snorkeling, rafting, national parks, golf.
Destinations - Beach, Hot springs, rain/cloud forest, volcanoes, waterfalls.

Also when you check this information think about how much time you are spending here, if you try to get everything you´ll probably miss most of the attractions.

If you need more information you can contact me at http://www.costaricanativa.com/

I spent 3.5 months there and travelled all around the country. Check out Playa Samara, and Hotel Entre Dos Aguas.

If you are looking for more of a party scene check out Playa Tamarindo.

Other must see sights- zip lining in Monteverde, Volcan Arenal is supposed to be one of the most romantic places in the country.

I don't think the embassy would do too much for you. If you are looking for budget friendly travel, and more independence, I suggest GAP adventures. I used them this summer and I was very pleased. If you are looking for completely guided tours then maybe Caravan or something along those lines. OR you could just go there and wing it! Always fun too. The public buses can get you to pretty much anywhere in the country for most of the time $5 or less. And its not hard to find affordable lodging in Cabinas when you get to your destination. That's what I wish I had done.

It depends on what you want to do in Costa Rica. And you may know by now that Spring break in Costa Rica is wild, especially Easter week. It's one of the busiest weeks in Costa Rica. Maybe that's the kind of thing you like.

Here's a site I've used that has some good info and facts.

The best advise i can give you is contact the Costa Rica Embassy in your country..

They'll guide you from step by step!

Good Luck!
