Costa Rica-What is the best beach on north pacific coast? |
Looking for the best beach to stay/walk/swim in Guanacaste on the Nicoya coastline in Costa Rica. Looking for a beach where we can stay-so there must be some hotels/cabins..not too touristy but not totally isolated. Beach with town right on beach or walking distance-pretty beach-I know the beaches are different there, but clean and long would be nice. Playa Carrillo is top contender-but dont' know where to stay. Tamarindo, but overwhelmed with choices. Moderate price-say, around 100$/night at end of dry season 2007. |

I'd say Conchal and surroundings: La Penca, Sugar Beach, Flamingo, Potrero, etc... You can also take a look at Samara and Carrillo area... you'll love it! Samara has the town right there, it's very nice and "low profile". Tamarindo is very very touristy. Remember the best period is dec-jan-feb. Hope you enjoy! |

Check out www.potrerobay.com
is located on Playa Potrero, a nice small beach near Flamingo.
The hotel is great, not crowded, and very good service. |

If you go south you will see the best of CR. Rainforest Beaches that the north does not have . . try hotel coquito between Manuel Antonio and Dominical in a sleepy village of Matapalo . . simply one of the best, most seclude beaches in the world . . you, nature, great sandy beaches and monkeys. If you are lucky, you might see 10 people on the beach for as far as you can see! Thats private! |

Tamrindo is beautiful! I recommend Hotel Capitan Suizo (www.hotelcapitansuizo.com). It is more expensive than $100 a night, though. The restaurant is great and not expensive, the hotel very nice, rooms are beautiful, and the location is far from the rest of hotels/restaurants/shops, so it's quiet.
Another famous beach is Samara, but I've never been there. |
