The mild rainy season lst until September, usually. In July and August you will get almost daily showers in the afternoon, usually clearing up by nightfall- pretty sunsets and so on. Nicoya is probably at its best during the mild rainy season, not the dry season.

The nasty rainy season usually starts in mid September more or less and slowly get worse until October, November.

Actually July, August and early September are better then the dry season for traveling to C.R. when the heat is awful and skin burning is inevitable.

That is a great time of year to go. Most mornings will be sunny with rain storms in the afternoons. Nature is at its peak and there are way less tourists.

The REALLY rainy season is generally September and October, when it can rain almost continually, or for days on end, and with some real downpours.

July is usually quite pleasant, although rain is frequent, and can be something to behold at times (inches in an afternoon). Depending on where you are in that vicinity, I'd say that some clouds every afternoon, with rain at least three or four times a week, is to be expected. But the clouds help moderate the temperature, and a misty rain in the warmth can be quite nice.

Also, bear in mind that the Guanacaste region is the driest in the nation. The farther south you go, the more the climate becomes more rainforest-like.
