Costa Rica: electric adaptors?

I'm a US citizen going to Costa Rica for the first time; is there some sort of electrical adaptor I meight need for my PC. Like I know you need one in Europe.

and if so where might one acquire it?

Actually, the US uses both 110 and 220 volt systems. For the most part anything you are going to be hauling to Costa Rica will be on a 110 system. The 220 volt systems are used mostly for washing machines, dryers, hot tubs. Big stuff. Your hairdryer, computer and cell phone charger run on 110v. I think costaricanativa is confusing the US with Europe where they usually use 220 or 240 volt systems.

In modern upscale hotels in CR you'll find the normal 3 prong outlets, because they cater heavily to US tourism. But if you are going to a hostel or a family run Inn - you may want to grab a 3 prong to 2 prong adapter. The last time I was in CR I brought one, but the places we were staying had the upgraded plugs so I never even took it out of the box.

No, just watch out because there are frequent power surges and power outages, so you might want to invest in a surge protector.

No adapter needed. They use 120V 60Hz same as in the US. Plugs are also the same.

they are all correct---but you may need a 3 prong to 2 prong adapter

What's an adaptor? I don't think we have those.

We don't even have electricity. I don't know what you're talking about.

You will need one, we use 110 volt electricity, you use 220 volt. You have to be careful, an adapter is for electrical appliances. What you need is a converter, this is used for electronics.
You should be able to acquire it in any appliance store. Just ask for a 220 to 110 converter, that should be easy to find. My advice, bring one, you know already the prices on the stores in your country, it might be difficult for you to look for an appliance store, and it might be expensive here, since they aren´t sold much.

There are no adapters, you only need adapters for Europe or the middle east.
Costa Rica uses the same connections as the USA.
