Costa Rica for a week. How do i talk to someone in the US for cheap?

ive heard of unlocked phone with world sim cards or whatever, or what about wi-fi? what would you recommend

ALmost all internet cafes have Skype, with headphones and microphones.. If they don't just download it yourself. You can get time at about 300 colones/ 1/2 hours in most spots (that's about 60 cents US).
ALl the other methods are far more expensive. And never never never use a hotel phone for calls at all, but especially for call out of C.R. There is a continuous and ongoing scandal about the rates the hotels charge and slam onto the bill. 10 to 40 bucks per connection and first 3 minutes are common and can not be dodged easily.

I'm not exactly sure of what you mean, if its talking to someone through the internet then just go to a cafe or something like "Spoon" or to a mall like "Multiplaza" they should have wi-fi there, you can just connect with your laptop. If you are looking to call someone then you could go to a internet cafe, they offer international calls for very cheap, also you could use their internet for about $1 and hour... im not sure where you are located, but if you could specify more i could tell you exactly where to go

I will suggest you buy a phone card... they are really cheap.... or you can connect through internet at the hotel most likely...

you can buy a phone card at any mini store or supermarket. The cheapest one to call the states is 3,000 colones (around $7) you get like 30 minutes to speak.

Buy a phone card they are all over.......you can use wifi.... all you have to do is pay for a hot spot.......I'm going down friday for a month. I decided against a world phone. To expensive......and I've looked at them all. My resort suggests a phone card.......
