I think that Punta Cana in D.R. is my favorite beach from the two countries, but as an overall destination, Costa Rica is by far the better Selection. |

Costa Rica is better. In Costa Rica are beaches, rain forest, culture and more.
Many beaches in Costa Rica are alone rain forest (like Corcovado National Park, 430km2 of rain forest and many km of beach).
In the rain forest you can see birds like the resplendent quetzal, monkeys (capuchin monkeys are very common), jaguars, tapirs, snakes. Costa Rica has 5 % of the Planet Biodiversity. In all 7 provinces of Costa Rica are rain forest.
Costa Rica's beaches are better than Dominican beaches, because Costa Rica is in the Equator and has a good weather.
Note: Sorry for my bad English, I'm from Mexico and I'm in 9th grade, but I was born in Costa Rica.

I went to Dominican Republic and it was very nice. I know a lot of very rich people live there like Sammy Sosa, and Tiger Woods. It has very very rich areas. They are also doing a lot of building there, like condos for americans and Europeans. I don't know about Costa Rica, I am sure it is very nice also. |

Well, I am Costarrican and I've been in Republica Dominicana 2 times before.
Personally, I prefer Guanacaste in Costa Rica. Better beaches, excellent hotels, great service, incredible weather, etc.

Costa Rica is by far the better choice- amazing beaches, friendly people, so much to do- you cant beat it! Lots of nightlife and so much to see! Definitely Costa Rica! |

From personal experiences, Costa Rica wins hand down! Dominican Republic does not even hold a candle to the beaches, activities and nightlife and a ton of other things like concerts, dining, and shopping.
Where else in the world can you go deep sea fishing, zipline at the jungle tree tops, go diving, visit a eco-reserve and even watch a concert, and thats all in one day. Plus you can see monkeys/parrots and eat great food in almost perfect weather.
