Monteverde is the most over rated- and over priced- part of Costa Rica!

Why not split the difference. Each place has it's unique attractions and it is not impossible to see both. If it were me I'd spend two or three nights in Monteverde, yes cold and rainy and mountianous, but beautiful and quiet. Then head to Quepos/Manueal Antonio. The transportation takes most of the day but is pretty interesting. Then you'll get on teh inter american hwy and head into Quepos. Spend 3 to four days on the beach in the sun. Transportation can be arranged and a mini-bus or van will pick you up at your hotel and take you to the next one. |

Manuel Antonio is just as impressive as you can expect it to be. The beaches inside of the park are exquisite, snorkeling is great, fishing spectacular and the animals that you see while hiking (easy hikes) within the park are plentiful and engaging.
Nearby Quepos and Jaco are nothing to shout about but 6 days in Manuel Antonio is easy. If you would like to see Sloths, Boas, Iguanas, Toads, Bats, White-Faced Monkeys, Howler Monkeys, Spider Monkeys, Kutamundi, and many other animals in the wild, this is your place!!
Monteverde is quiet and beautiful but not nearly as amazing for your first visit to CR. |

I been to a cloud forest in Costa Rica and it was well, cloudy and rainy. Not a fun vacation for 6 days. Manuel Antonio has rain forest, beaches and great fishing so I'm going to say go there. |

dont know how old you are .... but if you like to just relax monte verde is the place to go .... but manuel antonio has more to do ..also check out jaco beautiful beach and is not far from san jose and there is lots to do ....may be you should spend a few days in manuel antonio and some in jaco is in the same road.
