Costa Rica, when it rains how long does it normally rain for? Just morning? |
Im going in a week, and i looked up the weather. 2 days we are expecting rain/thunderstorm (50% chance) and it may change in a week and end up being sunny. But my question is, knowing that im going not in the rainy season, how long would it rain for when it says its gonna rain. Everywhere i look it doesnt tell me. |

First of all, hurricanes are extremely rare in Costa Rica, and it is not even hurricane season, so dont worry about that.
Second, this time of year is dry, so I would not worry about rain too much. I went in 2003 in early March and although rain was in the forecase, we did not see a single drop.
Last year I went in the rainy season, and it rained each day from around 3PM-8PM.... it tends to rain in the afternoon during rainy season, pretty much every day.
I would not worry about the rain. Enjoy your trip! |

All what Kin S says is true, but also remember the hurricane season! That make varies al the weather between august and november. If a hurricane is near Central America, storms are almost in the evening. |

Costa Rica is a tropical country with two seasons – dry and wet. Temperature in the Central Valley is spring-like all year long. It’s colder at higher altitudes in the mountains and hotter in the lowlands and along the shore.
Rainfall in Costa Rica follows a predictable pattern and it's relatively easy to understand.
From May through September the tilt of the earth creates long, warm summer days in North America and brings the sun directly overhead in Costa Rica.
Where the sun shines straight down it heats more, warm air picks up moisture near the surface, then rises and expands. Expansion cools the air forcing the water out, first as tiny droplets that form clouds, then as the droplets combine into drops, rainfall.
The rainy season in Costa Rica corresponds with this period of increased heating during the northern hemisphere summer (Ticos call these months winter, see seasons). By November the earth has realigned and the sun shines directly overhead somewhere south of the equator, moving the band of intense rainfall with it. This marks the beginning of Costa Rica’s dry season. |

it depends where in the country you will be.
If you are going to be anywhere in Guanacaste (Liberia,Tamarido,Coco) it will rain for a short amount of time then clear up.
Inland it will rain a lot more |
