Hi, i´m Colombian. I have been in almost every South American country and I recommend you Chile, they are constructing a lot of places to live in the capital and the country is in a good state right now. The problem with Chile is that it is far from everywhere and the climate too, (I´m moving to Chile in a few months), It will be hard to me to get use to the climate as I lived in Venezuela (tropical climate)
To visit a country (just for tourism) every South American country is good to visit, especially my country that is the one I know the most. Colombia has the capital, Bogota, Medellin, San Andrés islands. Cartagena, etc... my country has a lot of SAFE (I have been in these places) places to visit. |

Nicaragua. Safest place to live in Central America. Most Americans and Europeans that visit never want to leave and end up buying property there. Nicaragua boast many cultural cities like Granada, Leon which are very old cities. You like the mountains and relatively peacefulness go to Jinotepe or Matagalpa. Where the temperatures are mild. Like hot, then go to Chinandega which boast beautiful beaches. Like noise? go live in Managua the capital of Nicaragua. What is nice about Nicaragua you are never too far from any water, whether is river, lake, lagoon you can be there in 20 minutes. It is called the Land of Lakes and Volcanos. And Nicaragua also boast the most friendliest people. The main language spoken there is Spanish, on the Atlantic coast many speak English, Spanish and Miskito and Mayagma. The art in Nicaragua is wonderful. The furniture making which is many times made out of cedar or other precious woods is expectacular for a very reasonable price too. The flora and fauna is untouched and do not sell yourself short by not visiting the many active and inactive volcanos. |

There are too many countries that comprise "Latin America" to answer that question with any degree of knowledge.
It all depends on what you are looking for. Climate, economic conditions, jobs, etc. all influence the decision.
I have heard that Buenos Aires is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. And São Paulo, although I love it, is oppressively large, similar to Mexico city. Caracas (my hometown) is a mess, with that nut job Chavez as president. Colombia has the FARC to worry about. Peru and Bolivia have such poverty (among others).
So as you see, there are reasons to go and not to go to any place. You should make a list of the things you want in a place, and then find a place that matches the list.
Good Luck. |

For Spanish? Well, um, COLOMBIA! Medellin is actually a really nice city and its BEAUTIFUL! Bogota is nice too. Those are the 2 cities I suggest, but what ever. |
