The generation that is voting today, do not know or remember the things he did back in the 80's. He confiscated land, homes, businesses, bank accounts. They are uneducated leaders who made themselves rich of the countries resources. As a result, many of the educated, wealthy businesses left the country leaving it in more poverty and shambles. When he ended his term he left the country with 1,200 billion dollars in debt. Making Nicaragua the second poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere next to Haiti. Now, people believe that he has not changed his ways because of the company he keeps -- Castro, Hugo Chavez and some middle eastern radicals like Ghadaffi. He may be a changed man, nobody knows but people do not forget so easy and so the people whom have invested in the country i.e., Taiwan already said that they will be pulling out their resources and Aid of Ortega wins, many more investors said they will do the same and also the ones that were waiting to invest will no longer do so. The U.S. is threathening an embargo. So, my question is how can Ortega who promised jobs to the poor provide jobs to them now if all investors leave the country. I am not at all for politics and never will be so mine is just an observation and yes, I am Nicaraguan but I would never vote for anyone because all men are imperfect, only one that can solve mankinds problems is God. |

Because since the country is still just becoming more developed, it doesn't offer the ideal job opportunities. The poor vote for the FSLN Sandinista party because they believe that Ortega will help the poor.
Also, because Montealegre and Rizo are both too proud. They both kindly asked one another to back down for the benefit of the nation, and both refused. If one had dropped, the other could have beaten Ortega.
Well, this should be interesting to say the least. |

because the liberal party in nicaragua was divided into 2 different groups, and those groups spent all the campaign fighting each other instead of fighting Ortega. Ortega as president will destroy the country maybe not physically as he did in the 80's, he will destroy it economically and the help given to nicaragua will be removed. He is winning because of the hatread the Liberals had for each other and because they didnt unite to form a single party and fight against the real enemy: Daniel Ortega |
