I've been there, three times. I think in recent years a lot more people have heard about how beautiful Ecuador is and what a great place it is to visit, so a lot more people are traveling there now than say 25 years ago. I can certainly say that it seemed like there were a lot more tourists there the last time I was there than there were 25 years ago when I visited.
