Do visa Travel Cards work in Costa Rica?
i was recently in Guatemala and i had a Visa Travel Card and it was supposed to work, but it didn't. So I was wondering if this is the same case for Costa Rica. I have been to Costa Rica before and ran into a similiar trouble but I had a Master Card. Additional Details everyone has been confusing my question. A visa travel card can be used like a credit card but it is more like an ATM card. I was able to use my card like a credit card but in Guatemala the ATM's rejected my card. When I was in Costa Rica I ran into the same problem but I had a different type of card. I'm specifically talking about a Visa Travel Card
I recently had a similar problem with my visa card and when I called the company I was informed that with the world economy and the banks all tightening up they will deny anything that looks even a bit suspicious, including transactions in a foreign country. They said to avoid the problem in the future I should call and advise them whenever I went to a different country.

Visa credit cards are accepted at all Atm's in Guatemala but MC's are not accepted as much.
If you had a problem with a travel card in Guate....you'll probably run into the same problem in CR.

I have used Visa and MC in Guatemala many many times and have never had an issue. (though I did have a hard time finding an ATM in Tokyo that would take non Japanese cards)

You should be able to use most any credit card, visa or mastercard as well as diners club and american express are used in most places.
