Crazy Eagle

Does Bogota, Colombia get blue skies year round?

I might be getting a job down there. And I need sunny days, because I get depressed if it is gray for weeks on end. So, any info on the weather in Bogota would be appreciated, por favor. Gracias, amiga y amigos.

Bogota is high in the mountains, so fog CAN be an issue ... but when I was there (granted, it was summer), the weather was pleasant ... sunny with temps in the 60s and 70s.

I went down to Leticia in the Amazon ... that was hot, sticky and miserable. Bogota had much nicer weather.

Hi eagle. In Bogota you can enjoy lot of sunny days. But some days there's gray sky, spetialy in april and october.

Bogota is just above the equator, so there are no seasons as the ones you may be used to. There are only dry and rainy seasons. It is pretty much the same temperature year-long; 60's during the day (we rarely hit 70's) and 40's at night, so it is cold. The dry season is usually from December to March, and in this period you have the hottest days (it can get into the 70's at noon) and the coldest nights (it can go into the 30's in the early morning and in a few occasions even lower). From 5 am to 1 pm the temperature can change 40 degrees, so you should always have a sweater or jacket with you. The rainy season is usually April through June, when you get sunny mornings and rainy afternoons almost every day. August is usually windy, so there are kite flying festivals. Then late October through early December is rainy season again. Last year was unusually rainy, but normally we do get a fair amount of sun. Just remember Bogota's elevation is 8.600 feet, so it is cold; don't count on wearing shorts there. For that you take your car on a weekend and drive down for just an hour or so to a lower elevation like Melgar where it is a pleasant 80F year long.

Check the following link for detailed weather. You can go to history and see the temperature change hour by hour.

Enjoy your trip.
